Our Story

Bow-Wowza was officially created in 2018, but had been conceived of many years prior. Sallyann Keizer, MD of Sixth Sense Media and founder of Bow-Wowza, grew up with 7 Labradors and a natural interest in happiness and wellbeing. She founded the BATFA-winning Sixth Sense Media in 2000, to create children’s content to educate, inform, and inspire, and spent several years working for Disney, the BBC, and Channel 5’s Milkshake.

Discovering the world of positive psychology in 2011, she began to learn and research with a passion, eventually launching her own non-profit, the Happynesshub, in 2016. While this venture made wellbeing tools more accessible to the world of grown-ups, Sallyann still dreamed of uniting her passions for children’s entertainment and wellbeing together. Alongside this, and her love of dogs, the seed of Bow-Wowza was planted!

By 2018, Bow-Wowza was beginning to take shape, and Sally became the proud owner of Archie (a black Labrador who features as our very own Dexter D!). As 2020 rolled on, and the coronavirus pandemic reared its head the Sixth Sense team looked around and realised the time was right to bring Bow-Wowza fully to life. They called upon friends in the wellbeing and broadcast worlds, and managed to turn around a series of 10 short films within just a few weeks, officially launching the Bow-Wowza YouTube channel in May 2020. With voluntary contributions from actors, advisors, educational experts, and, of course, the doggos themselves, Sallyann’s dream had become a reality. Before long, the team was inspired to create audio meditations, creative activities, and even a package for schools to bring all elements of the offering together.

The vision for Bow-Wowza is to continue moving in the non-profit direction and putting out hilarious canine content on our socials – at least until we run out of dog puns! Sallyann’s ultimate dream is to take Archie into schools to bring joy to kids – but if we get a TV commission she’ll consider that too.
